Summoning The Whirlwind is a collection of sermons, chosen by teams of people from three congregations that I have served over the last 20 years.
It was published by Canadian Memorial United Church on the occasion of my 50th birthday, and then subsequently picked up and distributed by Woodlake Books in 2006.

Here’s what others are saying about the book:
“While many mainline Canadian clergy play it safe and bland, Sanguin feels called to tell it like it is. He sets out what it means to stand up as a progressive Christian in the 21st century. These highly readable, even entertaining, sermons reveal the mind of an intellectual with a passion for justice. But they’re also the vulnerable self-revelations of a man with a poetic sensibility and a generous spirit, including towards those with whom he strongly disagrees.” Douglas Todd, Award-winning journalist for the Vancouver Sun
“These sermons, soaked in the Bible and the best of current Christian thinking, light up the story of our lives and of our times. Inclusive, challenging, and seasoned with his own experience as a therapist, Bruce Sanguin lets no one nod off as he consistently points the way to the good news God gives for our taking. Keep this man preaching!” The Very Rev. Dr. Bruce McLeod, former moderator of the United Church of Canada, and Past President of the Canadian Council of Churches.
